I'm cold and disappointed and probably extremely overtired--I don't feel it physically, but I'm sure it's affecting my thought processes or lack thereof.  It's not even that I haven't had time to sleep, just that I haven't been able to.  I got into bed at two last night expecting to sleep the sleep of the dead, but woke at five.  And on Monday night I carefully got everything ready for election day, took a melatonin tablet and slipped into bed just after nine, only to wake up at 1 am and remain mostly-awake until my alarm went off at 5 am.

Also, is there anyone on earth who finds someone else's whistling to be a pleasant sound? Not just neutral, but pleasant? Because I'm thinking not.

I kind of like it. It's like hearing someone hum or sing softly to themselves--terrifically humanizing.

I don't mind/sometimes enjoy people humming or singing, but it just seems so rare that anyone can whistle in a way that doesn't sound grating. It has something to do with the pitch or tone or whatever, combined with the reality that very few people can whistle well.
