Yesterday when I started getting sniffly (as in a cold or allergies) for the third time in six weeks, I decided to buy (and use) a neti pot (they sell 'em at CVS drugstores.) Today my cold/allergy symptoms are gone.  Coincidence?  I have no idea, but I'm not complainin'.  I will happily accept any placebo effect that shortens the amount of time I feel crappy.

I'm being all [melo]dramatic and angsty in my head.  It is not a good thing to do. In fact, I think doing anything else is preferable.  Well, almost anything.

Dear Nora Ephron,

I'm sorry you feel bad about about your neck, really I am.  And you do write well.  But hasn't it occurred to you that there are people dealing with things far worse than having (and being able to) pay $10K a month for your 8-room, formerly rent-controlled Manhattan apartment or needing to go across town to have your hair styled?  SRSLY.

Sincerely,

We have no onions in the house.  Zero.  I don't think this has ever happened before, and it is weird. I'll have to get some tomorrow.  I have this idea that making a lot of vegetable stock (which I've never actually done before) to freeze and have around will solve all my problems and bring world peace.
