farmersonly.com

My mother has told me that if I can find a single, Jewish farmer who is not Farmer Dave (Jewish dairy farmer who lives down the street from my aunt), she will be very excited.  She is convinced that there are many single Jewish farmers out there.  I guess I can't fault her for being hopeful.

Out there, perhaps, but not in Baltimore proper. Maybe not single.

My dad is from Northern NY up near the Canadian border. There are a lot of milk plants and cheese factories there. I always felt bad for the young rabbis stuck with working up there.

She's not looking for someone in Baltimore--she doesn't like the community here, actually.

Still--there were only 12 Jewish farmers above the age of 50 on farmersonly.com, and they all want women in the 40-50 age range. Except for the guy who claims to be 99 and looking for a cow, but I think that was a bogus profile.

that is so beautifully specific. there are some amish farmers who will sell you raw milk according to this week's city paper.

I keep meaning to read that article. I'd actually like to spend some time working on a dairy farm, though probably not an Amish-run one.

it was good. i really want to try raw milk now. although the author didn't sell me on it being safer than pasteurized milk.

I can't imagine it is, unless you're getting it right from the farm or something, but then I haven't read the article.
