I have two nieces and two nephews. My sister, [livejournal.com profile] labyrinthnight, has a son. I volunteered in my church's nursery back in the day. I was 11 when my brother, [livejournal.com profile] edmaestro, was born. I can practically change a diaper with my eyes closed. (Disposables, anyway. I've never been around cloth diapers.)

I remember when the idea of changing a diaper seemed mysterious and exciting - then I started babysitting :)

Lately I've encountered people who'd never changed a diaper before they had their own children, which seems wacky to me considering that I've changed lots of diapers.

i've only fed a baby this year, with a bottle. also made her burp. and i think like 1.5yrs ago, i held a baby for the first time. less than 1yrs old is still baby right? i think he was less 1yrs old. maybe he was older than 1yr.. does that count as baby?

i dont know if my bro or his girl ever make me change the diaper of thier baby girl. cause that'd be weird. and stinky.

I don't know what's considered a baby and what isn't....I think <1 year is, definitely, though.

Changing diapers is stinky (unless you breath through your mouth while you're doing it), but not changing them is also stinky. When I was a mother's helper at camp once, sometimes other mother's helpers wouldn't change their kids' diapers so occasionally I'd do it for them, just because it was more pleasant to do that and get it over with than to hang out near stinky kids who needed their diaper changed.

oh no doubt it'd be stinky. i mean i cleaned a litter box like ... once.. and that was stinky. so, i expect a more central poop containrer of a diaper would be just as bad if not worse. (i dont see why we can't put some cat litter into a diaper to help soak up the mess :-p

Hmm interesting idea. I know there's little magic gel beads inside diapers (don't ask how I know this) but those don't actually mix with the poop and pee.

I wish cat poop or dog poop or people poop smelled more like cow manure. I don't mind the smell of cow manure at all.

is cow manure used in fertilizer? cuase thats crap is raw, so to speak. and sometimes i can't stand ot be in the area of newly fertilized grass or plants or whatnot. if poop smelled like swiss cheese, then i'd be fine.
