Why is everyone giving their last name on Car Talk today? I haven't listened in a while but people used to just identify themselves by first name and where they live.  (And I was going to write "or yesterday, since it's recorded on Saturdays," but then I went to see if that's accurate and stumbled up on this. The calls aren't in taken in real time.  WHAT? My world has been shattered.)

I've been making pseudo-cappuccinos by whipping milk (with sugar) using an immersion blender.  It's easier and works better than using the steam on the espresso maker.

I've noticed that similarly they sometimes they give last names on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and sometimes don't.

I've known for a long time that they screened the calls from the "audition" answering machine. But it seems so weird that the show isn't live-to-tape, doen't it? But that level of funny is hard to achieve without a lot of background work.

I'm sure it is hard to achieve that level of funny live...but that's what disappoints me. I had thought they were managing to do that somehow.
