(no subject)

My latest strange thought is that I prefer my mother's side of the family to my dad's because they're lighter.  There's no shadow of Europe and WWII, and consequently there's less guilt about religion and observance.  I think you have more freedom to be who you are when you're not trying to or expected to make up for something, replace something or someone.  And I suppose on that side there's also the expectation that I replace my father, somehow.  It's been all but said straight-out. 

It's not reasonable, it's not kind, it's not compassionate, but that's how I feel, at least right now.
