[livejournal.com profile] balmofgilead fun(ny) fact:

In middle school I listened to a lot of Republican talk radio and Dr. Laura.

(I did not, however, listen to non-Jewish music, because that might corrupt me.  Oddly, I don't think I knew enough to care whether the talk radio was hardcore conservative or radically liberal; the party line--or my understanding of it--was simply that listening to non-Jewish music was bad but talk radio was OK.  I wish I had grabbed onto NPR instead of WCBM.)

Thankfully, in the summer of 1998 a kid I was babysitting said "you've never heard Elvis? You should!" and I gave up on being un-corrupted and started listening to the local oldies station instead.

One of the bits from Sicko (which I haven't yet seen) that people keep mentioning is that Hilary Clinton is the Senate's second-highest recipient of campaign donations from the health-care industry.  Some people have wondered who the highest recipient is.

It's...Rick Santorum!  I can't laugh too much, though, because my own senator, Ben Cardin (D) is also in the top 20.
