[Poll #926808]
It was impressed upon me in my youth When I was in elementary school (at a Conservative dayschool, no less) the principal made a hubbub about how Valentine's day is a Christian holiday, not a secular one, and shouldn't be celebrated by Jews. Holidays' origins don't bother me anymore (dude, have you seen my Christmas icon?), but I'm still not sure where I stand WRT to what kind of holiday it is or whether it's something I'd ever 'do.' Some things just become ingrained into your way of thinking...like how my brain associates skiing with paralysis...and I think Valentine's day has become associated with "No! Not.for.you!" regardless of whatever other religious attitudes I may have totally jettisoned.
I don't see candy hearts and cupids--I see fire and brimstone.
