DRM Free Music Search

Say no to DRM, but don't say yes to Walmart and/or censorship either...

I think there are some good uses for DRM--it's nice to be able borrow an audiobook from my library online, and it's perfectly reasonable for some sort of DRM to prevent me from listening to the audiobook after the three weeks' borrowing time is up...but I'll be damned if I have to pay itunes through the nose to get protected AAC files of songs that I *could* download on p2p or order on CD, used.  Make less painful and annoying to support artists and maybe people will do it more.

I'm curious whether recording labels and/or artists make the same amount per song from places like emusic or bleep or gbox as they do from itunes...or itunes premium non-DRM content. I spent a while reading up on mechanical royalty rates at one point, but it's kind of fuzzy at the moment.
