me: signed up for auto mechanics class
auto mechanics class: held at a high school where they also hold night classes which are the last stop for kids kicked out of school for fighting and shit before they go to...jail?  juvie? reform school? 
sitting in auto mechanics class realizing that everyone else actually knows stuff about cars:  far scarier to me than walking through throngs of juvenile delinquents (granted, at the time I was walking through the throngs of people, I thought they were all fellow auto mechanics class attendees, albeit a strangely young and humongous group of them.)
