Spring [weather] is nice, but now I have spring fever. And yesterday in the supermarket I found myself pissed off because fruits and vegetables shouldn't be hard as rocks and/or come in hermetically sealed plastic containers, dammit. (It was one of the more chichi supermarkets.) It's not just that's it's wasteful...the disconnect between farm and dinner table bugs me. I miss the Waverly farmer's market.
I should go to our local Russian produce market more. They play oldies on the loudspeaker, the prices are great, snow peas are mislabeled as "snow peace," and sometimes there's a kitten wandering around the store. Oh, and the produce is pretty good. But mostly it's the absence of pristine hermetically-sealed stuff that makes me happy.
